Fantasy NBA Advice - by dcdoorknob
One of the hardest things each year as a fantasy nba player is to figure out how productive the rookies will be in the upcoming season. Still, it shouldn't be 100% pure guesswork. In addition to how many minutes a rookie is likely to receive on his new team, stats from college and the Euroleague should also be used to help form accurate expectations. Here I write a little analysis about the rookies most worthy of fantasy consideration, with a brief projection and current nba comparison for each.
Brandon Roy
His situation in Portland is pretty good, he's pretty much guaranteed good minutes, probably some at PG which should get him dual eligibility.
College Line: 50% fg, 81% ft, 20/5.5/4, 1.4 stl, .8 blk, 1.2 3pm, 2.8 TOs
I think its safe to expect great %s from Roy, with good (mid-teens) scoring, and around 4.5 rebs and 4 dimes. Will be ok but not great in 3s and hustle.
NBA fantasy comparison: Ricky Davis (lower pts, but higher fg% for Roy).
Adam Morrison
He'll get his starting spot and alot of PT in Charlotte.
College Line: 49% fg, 77% ft, 28/5.5/1.8, 1.1 stl, .3 blk, 2.2 3pm, 2.3 TOs
It will be interesting to see how Morrison fares against nba defenses, but he should still be a solid source of points, 3s and fg%. Ft% is annoyingly low for such a good shooter although it won't hurt you. Don't expect much of anything in assists or hustle.
NBA fantasy comparison: Wally Szczerbiak (lower ft% and assists for Morrison)
