With the deadline approaching, I could be about done dealing and trying to salvage this season.

I made a couple deals:

I get - Alex Sanabia, Luke Gregerson, Jason Donald
I give - Joel Hanrahan

I get - Paul Maholm
I give - Chad Qualls

And was also able to add Joe Saunders and Michael Taylor via FA.

I really don't think I win on upside in either deal, but I feel good about them, since I think I would've needed to have two closers to gain points in saves and I currently have zero. Since I figured it was improbable that both would wind up closers, I figured I'd move both, and get what I could to help elsewhere.

I'm not sure I'm really getting anything in Sanabia, but it was a flier. Jason Donald fills my MI slot that had been occupied mainly by Nick Punto, Brandon Wood, Kevin Frandsen, and Julio Lugo, all of whom are subject to losing playing time now (Roberts and Callaspo to O's and Angels) or soon in the case of Punto. Gregerson gives me a solid arm for ratio and K help.

Combined with Saunders, I'm hoping Maholm gives me some more consistency as I use the remainder of my innings rather than the ragtag bunch I've been running out there with stream starters, Bruce Chen, Chris Narveson, etc.

Finally, with Ryan Sweeney going down, I hope Taylor gets the call soon and can provide me with something. I should also get Mark Teahen and Travis Snider back soon.

My goal is to gain points in R, HR, RBI, AVG, K, ERA, and WHIP. Wish me luck!

Can't believe I've never participated in any DH leagues, especially baseball since I feel I am strongest in that by far.

Anyways, what do the standing looks like today?

I was up to 129 points a few days ago... dropping like a stone.

Keg's DL:
Ellsbury
Pedroia
M.Ordonez
O.Hudson
Inge
Pettitte
Meche

I now start an outfield of Kemp/Fowler/Petterson/nobody. Luckily Ellsbury should be back within 2 weeks, and if I can move Rauch for another hitter, I might be OK.

Dave, can things get any worse for you? This is courtesy of ESPN INsider updated at 9:11

Quote:
Kansas City Royals right-hander Gil Meche will miss the rest of the season due to the need for shoulder surgery, tweets Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.

A healthy Meche could have been one of the more sought-after arms on the market this summer, and now the "scoping" of the joint keeps him in KC a little while longer.

Meche is due $12 million next season before becoming a free agent and the Royals would have liked to have traded him this season. Depending on what the scope reveals, Meche is out indefinitely. If there are tears in the labrum, he could miss a year or more.

Well my season is probably over because I didn't check on the trade well enough before proposing it and I hope that you guys will provide me with some help.

The pending deal between myself and Roll It and Burnett should be vetoed and I'm asking for your help. I know we all haven't seen eye to eye and have had alot of disagreements, trash talking and back and forth this season, but its all in good nature. I respect all of you guys, even Seth and Kenny because you guys enjoy the competition like I do.

In offering the deal I did, I clicked on Brett Gardner to begin with, then added Jay Bruce and Brian Wilson, went on, then realized I forgot to add Adam Rosales so I clicked back and added him, not realizing that it wouldn't include Jay Bruce and Wilson still so I proposed the trade only to be horrified when I saw what was accepted.

The trade offer was supposed to be Prince Fielder, Matt Belisle, Frank Francisco and Carlos Silva for Brett Gardner, Jay Bruce, Brian Wilson and Adam Rosales.

I know this is my mistake and I am willing to take responsibility for it if need be. But I seriously hope you guys will show some compassion and help me out of this jam. If it was any of you guys I would do the same.

Thank you for your consideration.

Westray, want to trade Fielder for Kinsler? I promise that I have no knowledge of any injury to Kinsler!

So in a sea of bad luck (My current DL: Magglio, Pedroia, Ellsbury, O.Hudson, Pettitte, Inge, and now Kinsler) I finally get some help from the Fantasy Baseball Gods. I had sent an offer to Mad Cow Mayhem on Wednesday (Rauch for Callaspo - Since I need a 2b for now, and 3b/CI flexibility later) and he accepted it at 6:30pm last night. By 10:00pm Matt Capps was traded to the Twins, apparently taking Rauch's job. Unlucky for one owner, extremely lucky for the other.

I got a little boost in the last few days. Podsednik getting dealt to LA destroyed his trade value, although I think he will still play fairly regularly and steal another 10 to 15 bases. If no one else thinks that, oh well. I'll take his quality irregular playing time. Tejada got sent to San Diego, which hurts his stock a little. I had been engaged in trade discussions involving Tejada, but those blew up when Podsednik got dealt. On the other side of things, Logan Morrison finally got promoted to the majors and has taken Chris Coghlan's spot in left field. With Coghlan out six to eight weeks, Morrison should start pretty much the rest of the season. And with Lance Berkman on his way out of Houston, Brett Wallace should finally reach the majors with his fourth organization. His numbers with Las Vegas weren't skewed too much by Cashman Field since he still hit .291/.342/.467 with 8 HR, 23 RBI and 29 R on the road. I would not be surprised if he gives me .275-10-25-20 over the final two months. In fact, that's what I had been looking for in an outfielder for a while. All of the sudden, I have immense offensive depth.

Legend is at 180.5 points now. If the season ended today, it would be the highest total in DH history. Interestingly, his team name is becoming more appropriate by the day.

That would tie Trader J's total in 2003. I'll be interested to see how Legend's pitching staff holds up because he's on pace to shattering those records right now.

I made a couple deals yesterday... Billingsley for Derek Lee & Coco Crisp for JD Drew. I'm liking my lineup a lot better with Lee and I'm in first in SBs so Drew for Crisp made sense too, but I'm so far down in the hitting cats, it likely won't make a huge difference.

I don't understand how you value Billingsley and apparently Lee so much more than LaRoche. Personally I like LaRoche a little more than Lee as he's in his prime but the big selling point for LaRoche is that he's a notorious slow starter that rakes after the All-Star break. If you need any assurance of that he very predictably hit two three-run HRs today. Additionally, he has more HR and RBI than Evan Longoria at the moment to put his production into perspective. Looks like he's still undervalued despite great consistency - I didn't recieve one official offer for him this year despite constantly putting him on the block.

I just looked up the draft picks... Lee was taken at pick 66, Billingsley at 107, and you drafted LaRoche at pick 129. On my original draft list I had Billingsley at 88, Lee at 90, and LaRoche at 192.

I must not be the only one that feels that Billingsley is the best player as he's owned by 87% of yahoo users, Lee 80%, and LaRoche only 46%. If my team had more balance I probably would have kept Billingsley, but the trade filled a team need. I thought an offer of Lackey for LaRoche & a decent second player was generous on my end.

I like LaRoche significanly more than Lackey, especially for the 2nd half. The upside for wins would have been nice but Lackey's days as a sub-4 ERA guy are likely over. His K rate is way down from his prime and he's in the AL East now...not a great indication of future dominance. Draft position and % ownership are the opposite of what I look for in fantasy player value. The stats say LaRoche is a borderline superstar in the 2nd half where he's roughly a .300 BA .600 slugging hitter for his career.
